StatSheet's West Coast Player of the Week for January 28th goes to Gonzaga's Kelly Olynyk. StatSheet's West Coast Freshman of the Week goes to Portland's Bryce Pressley. And last but not least, Saint Mary's's Beau Levesque is the StatSheet West Coast 6th Man of the Week. Olynyk put up 70% shooting, 4 assists per game, and 8.5 rebounds per game. The Gonzaga junior played well in wins against Brigham Young and San Francisco.
Olynyk led scoring for the Bulldogs with 26 points while adding 5 assists in a big 83-63 win against Brigham Young. He then led all scoring with 13 points and added 3 steals in a 66-52 victory against San Francisco.
This is the second time this season that Kelly Olynyk has been selected StatSheet West Coast Player of the Week. He has also been named a runner-up more than once and received an honorable mention. The runner-up this week is Elias Harris, a senior from Gonzaga. Honorable mention goes to junior Beau Levesque from Saint Mary's.
StatSheet West Coast Freshman of the Week: Portland's Bryce Pressley
Bryce Pressley averaged 23 minutes starting both games for Portland. In a 75-72 loss to San Francisco, Pressley topped the Pilots in rebounding with 6 and tossed in 3 assists. Following that in an 85-67 loss to Brigham Young, he added 4 assists and 3 steals.
This is a new honor for Bryce Pressley, the first time he has won StatSheet West Coast Freshman of the Week. The runner-up is Matt Christiansen from San Francisco. Stacy Davis from Pepperdine takes honorable mention.
StatSheet West Coast 6th Man of the Week: Saint Mary's's Beau Levesque
Junior Beau Levesque, a 6-6 reserve forward, averaged 24 minutes over two games for the Gaels. In a lopsided 81-48 win over San Diego, Levesque took the lead in scoring for the Gaels with 20 and added 5 rebounds. Then in an 84-72 victory against Pepperdine, he led all scoring with 19 points on 81% shooting.
This is the second StatSheet West Coast 6th Man of the Week win for Beau Levesque. Nate Austin, a sophomore forward from Brigham Young, is the runner up. Kyle Rowley, a senior center from Saint Mary's, receives honorable mention. San Diego has yet to win StatSheet West Coast Player of the Week.
